Our association with the retail side of Sugarcraft and Cake Decorating started in 1994 when Lindy imported JEM products to the Sultanate of Oman to supply her students demand for equipment. Lindy moved to Dubai in 1995 and once again started importing equipment from JEM. Demand grew steadily and supplies were sourced from Patchwork, Sugarflair, PME and Rolkem. that business was sold when Lindy left Dubai, but continues to operate there.
On moving home to New Zealand, Lindy took a break form the industry, but returned to it in 2007, and entered the on-line shopping scene in 2010. A move to Christchurch meant a new phase in the business with the opening of a retail “Boutique and Academy” Called Cake & Sugar Art, to try to avoid confusion as to our location, but the on-line business remained as Sugarcraft Hawkes Bay.
Lindy has 27 years of cake decorating experience and has been a tutor for the past 20 years. She has taught internationally in the UK, Dubai, Sultanate of Oman and South Africa, as well as within New Zealand at Adult Education Centres, various Cake Guilds and privately. In November 2011, she obtained the PME Masters Diploma in Cake Decorating. The tutor was Tony Warren. She also gained a certificate in Sugar Flowers from Squires Kitchen, under the tutorlige of Alan Dunn.
In 2016 The Buisiness was sold to Mel of South City Party Nibbles who has also been in the industry for a long time, and runs a successful Retail business at 146 Clyde Street Invercargill, The online shop will intergrate well with the existing retail operation.
Mel and her staff are always available for help with your cake decorating needs. Cake decorating is in Mels Blood as other family members have owned bakeries and have been cake decorating for many years.
